On April 26, a controlled burn was conducted on the Adam Grimm field that is normally host later on to nesting Grasshopper Sparrows, Savannah Sparrows, and Bobolinks. But the black field is still worth a check. On Sunday, April 30, a flock of breeding plumage Lapland Longspurs were spotted in the field. A few of the Longspurs were seen again on May 1. An Upland Sandpiper was spotted in the field April 30.
Adam Grimm update

Adam Grimm field one week after the burn and already some new growth is sprouting up.
An American Pipit walks among the new growth:![]()

On the morning of May 3, numerous American Pipits were in the burned Adam Grimm field. The dusty gray bird shows up well against the black field. I didn't see any longspurs.
Savannah Sparrows could be seen and heard along Stange Rd.
