- January (month-long) - Ohio Winter Bird Atlas - Give the winter blahs a break and help atlas Ohio's winter birds. All it takes is 2-4 hours once a week, a pair of binoculars, and a Delorme Gazatteer. The objectives of the Ohio Winter Bird Atlas are to describe the distribution of wintering birds in Ohio, to document bird usage of special areas, and to provide an index to abundance of bird species using Ohio. Your help is needed. More information and the 2007 field form are available at www.bsbobird.org.

Join us for an exciting opportunity to view migrating warblers, thrushes, and vireos up close and learn why the beach ridges are an important habitat to conserve. The late warblers (Connecticut, Bay-breasted, Wilson, Canada, etc.) and those confusing Empidonax flycatchers are coming through at this time. What better way to learn ID? - Morning Songbird Walks - Friday and Saturday mornings, starting April 7, 2006 and ending June 3, 2006. BSBO naturalist Paul Sherwood will be leading walks at two of the greatest areas in the entire country to see migrating songbirds. On Fridays, we will explore the world famous Magee Marsh W/A boardwalk (meet at the west end of the boardwalk) and on Saturdays, we will visit the spectacular Ottawa NWR (meet in the ONWR parking lot).
