Magee report for 15-May-2006

Sixth straight day it rained, and on May 15h, it was a nearly constant light rain all day and into the night. Despite all the rain in the past week, May 15th also marked the sixth straight day of at least 25 species of warblers being observed at Magee. Reports from the TNA message board follow.

1. Clay-colored - on the beach at Crane Creek State Park. (not the wildlife beach of Magee Marsh)

Others seen during the day.

1. R.b. Grosbeak

2. Scarlet Tanager

3. Baltimore Orioles - everywhere

4. Gray Catbirds - everywhere

5. R.T. Hummingbird - in flowering shrubs across the road by the east entrance of the boardwalk. Also there is one coming to the feeder near the bird center.

Rails

1. KING - still being seen along the edge of the road on the causeway. (Area of main road that goes through the marsh wetlands before the parking lots and boardwalk.) Many birders are getting to see this bird.
